Shattered Ground: Soldiers Marching Off to War

Shattered Ground is told from the perspective of four friends, who like thousands of naïve young men before them, flock to enlist in the Canadian Army during the First World War—fearful that they would miss out on a great adventure. But the reality of the “War to End All Wars” quickly sets in, as they witness death and destruction on an industrial scale, in breadth and scope never before seen in human history. The story is told in flashbacks as a young teen stumbles upon a diary that belonged to his great-grandfather and relives a poignant tale of courage, com
