Cystic Fibrosis

In the United States, around 30,000 people have cystic fibrosis (CF), and one in 30 Americans is a carrier. Cystic fibrosis is a condition caused by genes that are passed from parent to child. Readers will learn that CF often begins in childhood and that medication, other treatments, and careful monitoring of the disease are required, along with adaptations of lifestyle. They learn that CF is a progressive disease that generally worsens as a person becomes older, but new and improved treatments are constantly being developed to fight the disease.
